Kyary pamyu pamyu, proving that 98% of anyone yelling about “cultural appropriation” are whiny middle-class Americans with little to no connection to the cultures that they are “defending”. Every foreigner I’ve met is happy when people take an interest in their culture, though some concerns (such as not appreciating religious significance) may be legitimate 9/10 are Westerners bullying people. Moral of the story: Just don’t be an asshole you guys

Except PLENTY of Japanese Americans and diasporic Japaense are sick and tired of people accessorizing their culture? Like they have voiced this multiple times? ThisisnotJapan and AngryAsianGirlsUnited have plenty of Japanese people saying this, just as an example.

Their culture is not only under represented in most American media but also poor represented. Like no, anime and manga isn’t Japanese culture.

To use one Japanese girl, one who doesn’t even live in the United States where a lot of this bullshit happens in, as “undeniable proof” that it’s a bunch of “whiny white people” saying it is appropriation is ignoring the voice of actual Japanese Americans and other diasporic Japanese who deal with tons of bullshit microagressions every single day.

The rough equivalent would be like me using Rush Limbaugh as a representative of America.

Try again.
